Sooo, it’s been quite a while since I decided to begin writing here. Since then, A LOT has changed! We planned on expanding our family at some point, but it didn’t take long to learn that we would be welcoming a little one sooner rather than later. Needless to say, the past nine to ten months have been a little hectic! Less than a month ago, we welcomed Magnolia Grace into the world and she’s perfect!
While I was pregnant, I read a ton of articles about sibling jealousy and adjusting to new family dynamics. However, with Hadley being four and knowing her personality, I wasn’t prepared for her reaction. Initially, I think she had a flurry of emotions and was just scared of the situation. Then, I noticed that those emotions quickly changed to a bit of jealousy and acting out to get attention. She’s adjusting really well and is an awesome big sister, but I struggled during the first few days trying to find the right balance between them. The past four years have been all about Hadley and the thought of taking that exclusive attention away from her was devastating. I wanted to spend all of my time making sure that she was okay and didn’t feel left out, but at the same time, I wanted to bond with Maggie and soak up all of the newborn days. I knew everything would work out eventually, and I think we’ve found a groove, but those emotions were rough!
I plan on sharing much more and look forward to seeing how our family changes as our girls grow to know one another. In the meantime, I’m enjoying the new baby smell and getting all of the chest snuggles that I can 🙂
